:: special offerings ::
Being a disciple of Jesus is about sharing what we have with those in need. When we partner with other churches, we can do things that none of us can do by ourselves. In that spirit, we participate in the four special offerings of the Presbyterian Church (USA) and in Blanket Sunday, a special offering of Church World Service.

One Great Hour of Sharing

Pentecost Offering
The Pentecost Offering benefits children at risk, youth, and young adults. Twenty-five percent of the offering goes for ministry with youth and young adults. Twenty-five percent goes for young adult volunteers, and 10% goes for child advocacy.

We're encouraged to keep 40% of the offering to support work on behalf of children at risk. This year, we're using our 40% to fund our week of the Summer Lunch Program in Centerville.

Peacemaking Offering
The Peacemaking Offering was created in 1980 to support the efforts of the Presbyterian Church (USA) to live out a deeper commitment to peacemaking as part of our faithfulness to God.

We receive the Peacemaking Offering on World Communion Sunday, the first Sunday in October. Our congregation is encouraged to keep 25% of the offering we receive to use for local ministries of peacemaking within our church and community. Twenty-five percent is used by presbyteries and synods, and 50% is used by the General Assembly ministries through the Presbyterian Peacemaking Program.

Christmas Joy Offering

Fifty percent of the receipts to the Christmas Joy Offering are distributed to the Board of Pensions for assistance programs that provide support to retired and active church workers and their spouses and families. The other fifty percent supports Presbyterian-related racial ethnic education through the General Assembly Council.
